Honey Bee Systems
SIPS-FRAME smart hive frames show the bee keeper exactly what is happening in the hives. All of SIPS-FRAME components are integrated within standard frame foundation, completely hidden from the bees. On the other hand, the beekeeper sees everything with SIPS-FRAME 3D activity monitoring. How are hibernating bees doing? Where is brood developing? Is the colony producing queens? Are hive conditions to wet? Too dry? SIPS-FRAME thermal management provides cold-weather assist for wintering bees and unique, temperature-based mite mitigation.
Advanced User Interfaces
Modtech developed the core aspects of mechanical keyboards for Massdrop (now Drop) including 61-key, 67-key, 87-key, and 101-key versions. Cold-Weather Battery Systems
Modtech developed a complete, tactical battery power system for Motorola’s use in the Alaska Land Mobile Radio project. Engineered to operate in the demanding environment of Alaska’s North Slope, this Scalable Intelligent Power System (SIPS) provided lightweight, high energy-density, man-portable, tactical battery units to power remote networks, surveillance, and radio gear on a continuous, 24/7 basis. The power units are hot-swapped and recharged at a central charging location to support uninterrupted, reliable, truly wireless round-the-clock operation.

Oil and Water Deep Well
Modtech invented and developed technology to measure fluid levels and control pumps in oil and other deep wells.
Smart Grid
Modtech invented and developed the Watchman® SF6 AutoFill to continuously monitor and adjust gas density in real time without human intervention or the need to interrupt operation. For example, SF6 gas density can be precisely maintained while a high-voltage breaker remains energized. Outages, downtime, and labor associated with dielectric gas conditions are minimized, precise moment-to-moment conditions are logged, and asset life is effectively extended.
